The Stuart Hall Project

Stuart Hall, a Jamaican-born political activist and sociologist was one of the most influential and esteemed cultural theorists of a generation.

Hall was Director at the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies at Birmingham University from 1968 until 1979. While at the Centre, Hall is credited with playing a role in expanding the scope of cultural studies to deal with race and gender, and with helping to incorporate new ideas derived from the work of French theorists like Michel Foucault.

THE STUART HALL PROJECT takes the viewer on a roller coaster ride through the upheavals, struggles and turning points that made the 20th century the century of campaigning, and of global political and cultural change.
